Pizza Perfect

One of the qualities I love about cast iron is its ability to cook evenly, which means the perfect pizza crust.  Put the crust inside a skillet for deep dish style or flip the skillet and use the back side for  regular style. Either way, cast iron makes for a pizza-perfect crust.

Here is my go-to crust recipe:

Pizza Perfect Crust
(makes 2 pizzas)
1 package yeast
a pinch of sugar
1 1/2 cups warm water
3 1/3 cups flour
2 tablespoons olive oil
a pinch of salt

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Mix yeast, sugar, and water. Let sit until bubbly (10 minutes).
  3. Add flour, olive oil, and salt. Mix with a fork until combined and dough forms.
  4. Let dough sit for 1 hour to rise.
  5. Dump onto floured surface and divide into two portions.
  6. Stretch dough to desired size and shape.
  7. Top with preferred pizza toppings.
  8. Bake for 20 minutes or until crust starts to brown.
Enjoy!

  1. I've never thought to flip my skillet over to make a flat crust--such a good idea!
